Hi and welcome! Bet you can't wait for the new motor :bananadan

Have you seen this clip: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BR2mR6G7fvk

Pretty good example of rapid acceleration! Just a question - what's your Golf like, does it have the Recaro leather seats?

I'm in New Zealand so not able to buy it obviously but would like to hear your review on the car?

hi ryan yeah i connot wait to get it.

i have had 2 mk4 golfs infact my first was a 1.8 20v turbo that had recaro interior in blue i have to say they are really nice cars when it comes to comfort and a bit of sportyness but not the fastest cars and unless you change the turbo and do abit of head work then you not gonna have alot of power but they still arnt that bad you can remap them from 150bhp to about 170, 180ish safely with just a stage 1 remap which costs aboit £300.

i at the moment own a mk4 v5 which is a 2.3 and these dont come with recaros but they do have sporty seats and suspension and i have to admit i prefer this to the 18 turbo that i used to have.

so basically

1.8 turbo 20v turbo
comfort and driving - 7/10
performance - 6/10 with remap
suspension and handling - 5/10 needs to be lowered atleast 30mm front and back
interior and cabin - 8/10 really comfy but the seats dont go low enough for me because i like sitting low down.
engine reliability - 8/10 i had to change a few sensors but nothing major
brakes - 7/10
overall i would give the car a 8/10
mainly because of the price you can pick a decent one up for between £2500 and £3200.
and insurance group isnt that high either and it has potential to be a beast if you got the dollars to spend that is.

but i would rather prefer the mk4 v5 that i own because its better on feul and also is more responsive and feels more aggressive and sporty and sounds awesome it has a real burble if i would change anything on the v5 it would be the seat i would get a set of recaros for it the only downside to this car is that theres not alot i could accualy do to it as its n/a.
as for the 1.8 20v turbo its a turbo that says it all.

hope that helps abit.

Thanks for that

Plus the 1.8T is in a fair few cars, audi, seat, VW etc so there are hundreds of parts and companies that "specialise" in tunning them.
