Do you think that most lottery wins are wasted on the un-educated, un-intelligent people in the world?

It just seems the amount of stories of people saying it

a) hasn't changed my life
b) hasn't made us happy

The actual wealth of opportunities that having countless stacks of money opens up to you seems to far outweigh the cons of the whole thing.

You could get involved massively in helping others , worthy charities, groups of people.

You could do volunteer work if you want to work?

You can go travelling around the world, visiting new places/people

You can pursue a wide range of hobbies/actvities/sports without having to worry about costs

You could study a wide range of subjects at college or university

You could start your own business.

The list goes on...

So a) do you agree with my sentiments
b) what would you do with £20million??

I'd buy up all the VR4s and keep them in a massive VR4 garage so that they stay out of reach of the general population! Muahaha.

Yah. I agree with your sentiments.
And I'd do "All of the above".

£20mil probably wouldn't last me that long unless I was very careful with it, so my first thoughts would be a nice house, a trust fund, some good medium term investments and starting up (or buying out) a successful business with the intention of growing the business.

A chain of tuning outlets would be next on the cards, along with perhaps some software companies.

Travelling the world would also be something I'd like to do, ideally in 5-star comfort as much as possible.

I'd also expect to be buying a very expensive education for my children.

Pay off debt.

Buy a house.

Donate some to RSA and SPCA

Give some to my parents (it's the least I could do).

Spend some more on my education

Travel travel travel!

20 mil is a fair chuink of money and i completely agree that if it doesnt make you happy then your a moron.

I would clear my sisters and parents mortgage, trust funds for niece and nephews. Buy my self a nice place to live in england and somewhere abroad maybe a few places.

Then alot of cars nmothing like ferraris etc but proper cars that i could never afford otherwise but love..Escort Cosworths for example, rally spec stuff and of course a supercharged NSX-R.

A lotto win for me would see me buying a house, a nice small collection of cars, doing some travelling and charity work, and then saving the rest for a rainy day

Oh and I agree with your sentiments, seems the winners just go nuts but I can understand that to an extent. I remember seeing an interview with a bloke who won a fair bit, and it led to his family falling out which each other since they all wanted a slice, his wife divorced him etc

Its ironic that wealth instills greed imo

£20,000,000 is a massive amount of money.

£10mil would immediately go into a high interest investment. If the rate was a stable 2.5% for instance, your money would make £250,000 in the first year, £256,250 the second year, £262,656.25 the third year and so on. That money wouldn't get touched for the time being.

With the other half of the cash we'd pay off our mortgage and other debt and spend money extending, decorating and generally tarting up our current house. I'd buy a fast estate car and a lightweight fun car and Kate could buy whatever car she wanted. I'd probably also sign up to a supercar hire company like ecurie25 for 12 months aswell. We would most likely pay off debts and mortgages for immediate family and give everyone some spending money, I think that would see off £5mil.

Then with the final £5mil, we would both look at starting a business, probably buying and renting property around the UK. I'd spend a season following the F1 and we'd take alot of holidays to interesting places around the world.

Once we have an established company we would start making donations to charities to offest tax bills instead of paying ourselves a wage, money would be reinvested and we'd start to live off the interest the original £10mil has earned.

I would agree with most sentiments!
If we won £20m+........Well that`s a hard one to answer?? So I`ll go along these lines.

Give a large amount to Macmillan cancer and the Earl Mount Batten hospice on the Isle of Wight for looking after my mother until her departure from this world!

Probably buy abroad

Buy my dream car (Citroen 2cv)

Like most would agree buy a damn good car collection (All 2cv`s)

Have my grave stone engraved with F*** me is that the time already!

I certainly would not be greedy with it!!

Make sure my three boys are helped with a good education and when they leave school

Probably make a huge amount of it work for me.

All in all make sure my other half, kids have a comfortable life and the work side of things would continue

Oh and finally have a penis reduction

An investment for £10m at 2.5% !!!!!!If you find one of those, the investment banks will be falling over themselves to be your best mate :D

But yes, I agree, the best thing to do is plunge at least half of it into a managed fund(s) to make the best of it! After all, we'd be able to afford a Wealth Managers attention.

I googled before putting that thinking i'd get an easy answer as to what rate you'd be given for a large lump sum deposit, but nothing came up, so I guessed at 2.5%.

Does anyone have any idea what sort of rate an investment house would give you on a 7 figure sum?

Money will not make you happy IMO. However, the only thing that stops me being happy at the moment is having to work when I don't want to. So money would improve my life.

A vast amount of money would not change me as a person. I'd still enjoy the same humour, hold the same values, love the same people. It would however change the way I lived my life - more time with friends and family, better holidays, bigger house, more cars etc. I struggle to see how a lot of money would bnot improve my life!

I would turn up to McLaren Cars HQ and buy the black long-tail F1 and get them to put an LM spec engine in it :D

Ohh and probably do something similar to what MildCards said with whatever is left over.
