Hello,

I've just bought a Legnum and 3 days in I've noticed a juddering on the front nearside wheel as if the abs is coming on. Any thoughts?

Thanks in advance.

Good chance that you have a sticking slide pin or piston. fairly easy to sort and quite common

Is the caliper getting hotter than the other front caliper?

Thanks for the advice, i have taken the caliper apart and greased everything andalso swapped front and rear wheels, the juddering seemed to move so i changed the tyre and problem is still there, the juddering only happens at between 35-45 mph and then at around 70, any more thoughts.

Thanks again.

Just as an aside, I hope you've not used a copper based grease on the slide pins as they will only end up sticking in short order. A lithium based grease is the correct one to use for this application.

Under what conditions do you get the judder? I'm assuming braking? If so, then I'd suggest new discs. The discs are prone to 'warping' on the vr4, simply because it is a big heavy powerful car, often auto as well. This means the brakes get hot and then people sit at the traffic lights with their foot on the brakes. One part of the disc gets very hot with the pad in contact and you effectively change the properties of the disc at that point. Then the disc will grab ever time round.

If you are getting the judder under any other conditions, then please ignore everything I've just said!

It's never whilst braking always accelerating or sitting at a certain speed, i have also noticed that the gear change is not to smooth, could it be a fluid issue?

Yes, it could be. Whereabouts in the country are you? Maybe a local member can offer his opinion?

Dont think so. Your car will run lumpy for a few 100 miles till it learns again.

Would that cause problem with the gear change as well?

Yes it may stutter a lttle between gear changes.

Ok, i think that is what the problem has been all along.
