Just a wondering how many VR4's are parked in clubhouses around the country at any one time in the year /Brolly

I swing the clubs in anger from time to time!

Anyone else? CVR4 tournament perhaps /haz /popcorn

My dad and brother are very keen golfers. My dad is off to Portugal next week to play and my brother won quite a few junior open's over the summer this year, he's considerably better than my dad too, which really pisses him off.

ETA, i don't play golf, but I quite like cycling, just in case anyone interested :p

I play. I used to play regularly a few years ago and managed to reach an unofficial handicap of +18. Since then I play very infrequently and have dropped a fair bit since then. But yep I'd be up for a CVR4 tournament.

Better driving a VR-4 than a golf club but always up for spoiling a good walk!

I'd have a go! Although my target is usually just to score under double-par...

Yep, I play "social" golf, the more social the better :) Currently playing off 17.

Now that the nights are drawing in, this'll keep you busy - it is quite addictive, though!

Never played a full round but have caddied for friends / family. I don't have the patience requried to master it.

It is a game that I think requires a lot of skill (and patience) especially at top level competition.

I never even considered golf ( figured it was an old mans game), however my 12 year old son Cashel took an interest earlier this year and he is now totally hooked on golf. Has his own full set of clubs and even joined the local golf club.
So not to be left behind, I bought a set of clubs and join him as often as I can on the course.
I'm still pretty useless at it, but enjoy the exercise and the company of my son, as he guides me around the golf course, explaining the rules etc., which club I should use. And mostly he explains which club Tiger Woods would use in the same situation.

Buggys are good fun if the grass is wet.

That would only depress me - I've got the driver out, and Tiger's using a wedge!!

See, this is where I get confused. I never knew there were so many wedges.
Sands wedge, common wedge, lob wedge, then there are all those hybrids.

Yes - now until you're any good, there's not much point to most of these clubs. You only need, IMO, a driver (and a lot of bods would say not to use that until you're good!), a long iron, like a 2I or 3I, a short iron (7I/8I), a wedge (SW/PW) and a putter. Easily get by with 5 clubs! Either way, I still need to outnumber the clubs in the bag with the supply of balls! /pan

LOL - thats completely true. I started playing using a set of old clubs that were given to me by a mate. I played for about 10 rounds with them and went out and bought my own set. I ended up going for a low end/mid range set of clubs for £150.

And all I use is a 3-wood, 3-9 irons, a P wedge and a putter. And yes, until you get good, there isnt much use to the various kinds of clubs.

My mate loves his 64 degree S wedge, yet I can play the same shot as he does with my 52 degree P wedge. Just a matter of playing the right shot with the tools you have.

I might have a quick bash at the driving range tomorrow :D
