Ah, this should be funny for you guys to read. Im 22 and I have been driving for 2 and a half years. In that time I have owned the following:

1. 1992 Rover 216 Gsi - 110bhp, and not bad for a first car considering it had full electric windows, sunroof, mirrors etc plus the reliable honda d16a6 engine
http://i216.photobucket.com/albums/cc179/gib786/1.jpg

2. 1995 Rover 216 Sli - Same 110bhp and electrics like the first one
http://i216.photobucket.com/albums/cc179/gib786/DSCF0002small.jpg

3. 1992 Rover 416 Gti - 130bhp twin cam honda engine. Was nicked off my driveway one night so I bought car number 4. However the fuzz found the gti the day after I purchased car number 4 so I had it repaired and got it back on the road. Its still parked up on my driveway, cant bear to sell her.
http://i216.photobucket.com/albums/cc179/gib786/Gti%20Sale/DSCF0020.jpg

4. 1996 Rover 416 Sli - yes, another Rover! 110bhp grandadmobile which I sold a few weeks after buying her
http://i216.photobucket.com/albums/cc179/gib786/DSCF0002Medium.jpg

5. 1992 Honda Prelude 2.2 Vtec - 197bhp jap import. Picked her up for the bargain price of £400 from ebay. Did intend to keep it for a few years but the old mans wheelchair wouldnt fit in the boot. Spent most of my summer bezzing around in it, and then sold it to a mechanic after it failed its mot.

http://i216.photobucket.com/albums/cc179/gib786/Lude%20Sale/DSCF0178Medium.jpg

6. 1999 Mitsubishi Galant VR4 Type S - The current love of my life, my pride and joy and hopefully will be with me for years to come!

I think my last tally was 40+.

However, only a few cars have stood out (in preferred order):

1. Audi S3
2. BMW M5
3. TVR 400
5. Lancia Integrale
6. Audi 90 quattro
7. Mitsubishi Galant

Most disappointing = Porsche 911 Turbo.

1985 Mitsi Mirage, 1.3l carby (manual) - was a great first car, could thrash it and it wouldn't die! Reconditioned the head on it, left the decompression spacer out so it was running waaaaaaaaay more compression than it was meant to.
Sold it on to someone else after I started seeing signs of rust and the oil leak from the bottom end was getting worse.

1992 Mitsi Lancer 6, 1.6 V6 (auto) - this car racked up a bigger repair bill than my Legnum has cost me all up so far! Had 178,000kms on the clock when I got it and it was still running the OEM factory cambelt :o On this car I replaced radiator, engine, rebuilt trans, and so on - about $10k all up over 4 years.
Eventually sold it because the girlfriend "hated" it and I wanted something with more power - regret selling it to this day!

Which one? the 996? How / Why? :speechles

I'll have to check the model number - 1985 vintage, IIRC?

I found it was the most tiring car to drive "briskly on UK roads, as it was so twitchy (especially in the wet). I never tracked it, where it might have been a different story.

It lasted 6 months before I sold it (at a profit). :)

Nice! When I was at school one of my mate's dad had a 635CSi which I was besotted with. Interestingly I never saw very many of them in South Africa but there seem to be a fair few floating around New Zealand (635s).

There was also an BMW M6 (635CSI shape) - which had the same 286 bhp engine as the M5 but inferior suspension. Go figure?

I tried an M6 for a week-end, but it did not seem worth the extra over the 635CSI.

Nice thread. I've had;
Mini City 1000
Mini Van
Mini Pick-up (genuine one still owned by my mate Jimbo)
Metro turbo (donor car for the above, inc. engine)
Volvo 240 estate (sack of s**t)
Lancia Integrale 8v
Lancia Integrale "cat-car"
Lancia Integrale 16v
Austin Montego turbo-diesel estate
Legnum.

Nice to see a lot of similar cars among other members.

I feel inadequate - I've only owned four cars previously!
1987 Ford Sierra 1.8GL (rust bucket)
1994 Vauxhall Calibra 16v (Cool at the time, now chavvy)
2001 Nissan Silvia S15 Spec R (the ultimate drifter - awesome)
2004 Nissan Skyline 350GT (rare as ** in the UK)

Current car is 1997 Legnum VR4 Type S (the boot sleeps my whole family).

The odd thing is that the Leggy, although it is the third most powerful of the above cars I have had, its the worst on mpg - even than the 3.5L VQ35DE V6 of the Skyline. Mad isn't it?!
