Glad to announce that I've just finished another HID projectors headlight task.
Seemed to be never-ending job due to arose dispute with Chinese supplier of projector kits. Finally solved problem (thanks to PayPal), but delay was some 5 to 6 weeks.
Generally, same as mine in VR4. Which means 4 low beam and 4 hi beam lights, plus 4 angel eyes CCFL rings.
Twinned wiring looms and only thing required is 4 HID ballasts. Mine experience is that each HID bulb has to be feed by separate ballast, otherwise plenty of issues to deal with.
Total costs including spare headlights (if I get ones...) and mine labour: approx 290 GBP.

Here some pictures:

Light pattern is like that:

How they look in real world? I think that Paul (psbarham) or Glenn (WODJNO) can share what they think....:elf:

So when are you going to start making them and selling them within the club? ;)

Looking good :)

Are you cutting away the centre of the standard reflectors there?

D'you mean "mirrors"?

Then, low beam is a easy-peasy job, no fiddling. Hi beam mirror needs some work to convert H1 housing to H7.
There are two crucial points.
1. Separating glass from headlight box and reverse.
2. Conversion lenses from LHD to RHD. The most fragile part is modification to projector diaphragms. Easy to snap and break. Actually I wasted one lense due to broken diaphragm tin blade /hammer

Anytime welcome :joker:

Just be aware, that I need at least 4 to 5 weeks to complete job (mentioned Chinese source of kits) since agreed.

And with own supplied headlights total price is reduced to 190 GBP :chugchug: That means 4 projectors and angel-eye kits, wiring loom, HID bulbs, etc. and labour inclusive.

Nice job, Just a tip m8, make sure you put loads of tape around the rubber cover bits which join to the balast units ,water gets in and the connectors go a funny colour , connectors went green and the halos only half came on.. half a circle.coming from experience, I took mine apart and cleaned them with a wire brush. the
After cleaning they work bright as ever now. ..phew.

That's weird: I've been using HIDs for years on various cars and not had that problem!

You did mount them away from direct water-splash?

i think it may of been my local polish car wash going a bit over the top with there new turbo jet system.. just thought its worth making the mention

Don't think that is a HID issue.
Regardless of our light systems I'm sure that everyone is aware of possible rusty bits due to water, moist, etc. and will secure electric lines. It's just obvious.

Are the original reflectors used at all with these new HID units in place? If not, why not paint the old reflectors black to match the rest of the headlight innards so they're not so visible?

Example:

33015
