Noisy Air Con

With all this cold weather we've been having lately can anyone tell me if this is likely to affect the air con unit if used when the car is started from cold? While waiting for the car to warm up the other day the air con automatically came on from the previouis night and ever since it seems to be noisier than usual...am I likely to have damaged something? Or are the units pretty noisy anyway? Particularly when 6/7 bars power? Thanks :microwave

When mine was noisy I topped it up with a can and valve from halfords and that sorted it out, otherwise it might be the bearing, (if it doesn't happen all the time then it's likely not the bearing)

You're meant to use the aircon to help demist the car (press the demist button, and it puts the aircon on autmatically). So no, it's designed for the cold. However, as above, the bearing may be worn. More likely, it needs a recharge.
