Oh Wodj - Buying a new TV is a minefield - I've been researching for months to replace my Philipps 32" (£1600 just 5 years ago!!!!!).

It is 1080p (tick) and has plenty of HDMI (4 - Another tick)

Contrast ration is low o the blacks may not seem so black. Doesn't give any info on Refresh rate - I want a minimum of 100hz for gaming and sport.

Sound will almost certainly be iffy but if you hook-up through a home cinema box then will be irrelevent.

At that price it's almost worth taking a punt!! At worse you'll have a very big PC monitor ;-)

You can get an award winning Panasonic TXP50X10 from Richer Sounds for £599 at the minute.

That's a much better and bigger TV for only a £100 extra.

Curry's currently have a special offer on a 50" 1080p LCD Samsung for just over £400....or so I am told by my colleague.

Seems incredible to me.

Technika - if it's just for watching telly in the kitchen of something, it's fine. It wouldn't be my choice of brand for a "sit down and watch" TV.

The picture on mine (technika 32") is very good as i do beleive the screen is a samsung unit. Yes the picture isnt quite as sharp as some high end units (due to the graphics driver), and the sound isnt as good a quality as others. But fer less than 400 spondoolies, its a tidy looking good telly
