HI ekdriver, & welcome to the club !!
I dont think insurance will be a problem, but It may be a little expensive for your age.
Try; Tesco; Adria flux; Osborne & sons; lifesure etc, they may be able to help.
:-D

PS/ another Scot !!! they're taking over the world !!!  :-b

I'm 24 and drive one, however couldn't get my own insurance, luckily my insurance for another car allows me to drive it.

25 in a couple of weeks and will go named driver then.
Adrian Flux allows this but you have to be over 25.

25 onwards and you should be okay with most insurers.

I have for sale a 7g vr4 which insures as a galant v6 import, I have phoned mitsy to confirm the model against the chassis number and its a v6 galant, despite it having vr4 spec(2ltr twin turbo/4wd etc), which will make the insurance a lot easier. See for sale section if interested

I REALLLY NEED TO SELL THIS CAR

would the "ek" stand for east kilbride?

Or, does it mean you drive an old shape Honda Civic 3door?

I only turned 24 two weeks ago.......

Im insured with Adrian Flux since about 2 months ago.......

I live in a low risk postal code too... and have 6 yrs no claims and its still mega bucks... :rolleyes5 but has to be done really... :p

insurance companies love to charge over the odds when you mention the words japanese import.. :(

do you mind to tell me how much is your insurance? so that i will have some idea...

Dan_G

ermm.... its...cough cough.......less than £1700 :)

but more than £1500 :sad3:

B@ztards quotes me £1200 before I got the car.... which is the same as my 7-series..... so I bought the car..... got back to them and wamo it'd gone up by £400... :wtf: :uhoh2: man I was annoyed....... I HATE INSURANCE COMPANIES :gun2:

my mates think Im crazy paying that....... and now I have the BIG service to be done @ about £700...... Its all a little expensive...... I would do the cambelt myself but I wanted mitsu to do it? although they're probably cowboys dressed in Ralli art over alls and will do it no better than I could myself..

Oh dear I've started to go into a rant......

No but the car is immense :-D ....and if, like me you can only just get by financally... all will be spiffing.... :p

I hope that helps... (excuse the partial rant... I Just hate garage mechanics/salesmen/attitude/incompetence)

How odd! they wouldn't insure me... mind it was only a fleeting question, they had none of my details as I didn't really need to do it.

Well, Admiral Insurance were cheapest for me. Fair enough, I am 27 but it was "only" £550! I snapped their hands off when they told me. Maybe you should give them a call?

Call admiral. they didn't what any car security fitted and fully comp for under £350 with protected no claims(34yrs old so maybe pushing on a bit in their eyes.) :smug:

I'd phone the companies first.

Also, be very sure you're not going to move house. I drive a "mere" GLS, and I'm 23 and will have 2 yrs ncb at next renewal, which will be around £850. I moved from category A postcode to cat F, and insurance doubled. I've now moved to cat D and it's come tumbling.

Im 25 and live in a lowish risk area in scotland.

My insurance is £700ish on my 96/97 VR4 Gallant.

I'm on the lookout for a Leggy VR4, I'm 24 with 4 years NCB's and a clean licence. Osbournes said they wouldn't quote me as i'm under 25 and Elephant quoted £1216.00 for a 12 month warranty. Not bad as my Scenic costs £700 at the mo. I think the Leggy despite being an import has a low claim history which helps.

How do you find what 'category of risk' the area you live in is?

No, so long as you can get insurance...

Just to update, i rang Elephant to see if the car they had listed was the right one, and they said they wouldn't insure me, under 25 again. BUT Adrian Flux will for £1200, which is ok, but not as cheap as i'd liked.
