Ive adopted a whine sound from the car as i get to about 30 then stays with me an only goes when i lift of the gas? 1st instinct was check ATF which was fine? So has anyone else had this or do i look for a new autobox?

did you check the transfer case oil?

As Dave said, I'd check the transfer case oil and rear diff oil. If the noise is the same in different gears at the same speed, ie at 45mph in 3rd, 4th and 5th it is the same volume then I doubt it would be gearbox.

It could also be something like a wheel bearing, although they tend to 'rumble'

If it rises in pitch as you accelerate, it my simply be your torque converter: some of them seem to be a bit noisy (mine goes woooOoooOOOooOOOO) as you accelerate). It's not hugely loud, though: you mainly notice it as you pull out of car parks slowly, and MUCH worse when it's cold.

wouldnt say the pitch rises it just gets louder an louder as i get faster an thats after the first time i get to 25-30 an stays everytime i touch the accelerator

LOL i wish thats an easy fix! sadly given my recent finding that it shouldnt be running 255s on the rear an 205s on the front i suspect it may be more rear diff then wheel bearin or torque convertor? the doc should know for sure by the end of the day lol
