ok im fitting an intercooler at the moment need some advice got a small lip at the bottom of the car thats getting in the way of the intercooler

what i need to know is can i cut this back so it is flush with the chassi with out effecting an mot

Noo. That's your crossmember for the front and rear roll-stoppers/engine mounts.

I had the same problem with mine but I have mine at a slight angle which avoided the issue.

ye i know what it is and wasnt plan o hacking it to bits just trimming the edge

Leave it well alone.
If you weaken it, you'll find out you did it wrong when the contents of your sump is all over the car behind you, and you're wondering who can straighten out your chassis.

personally i would take it off, get it in a big vice heat it up and bend it over 90° so it clears, this shouldn't weaken it

I like that idea, I suspect it will need a fair amount of heat though and I'm not sure how the little notch will cope.

think im just gona leave it with the bigger 90degree hose iv ordered it shouldnt be an issue to move the intercooler out a bit but i will need to put somthing over it to stop it damaging the back of the cooler

Mine is tilted enough that it doesn't touch. I do have a bolt further up though with some sticky back rubber foot on it. The FMIC doesn't move at all in mine so vibrations don't seem to be an issue so far.
