Max Power Special (http://www.maxpower.co.uk/article.asp?asset=11304&p=3)

So apparently this car is pushing 200bhp from a 1.2 16v with only superchipped, reinforced pistons and induction kit. This propels this car to 60 in 6.2 seconds!

Now call me sceptical, but the most powerfull corsa with a 1.2 (according to parkers) is 78bhp, this does 0-60 in 11.8 seconds. Plus of course you have half of halfords bolted on to add more weight.

My guess is it's about 110bhp, maybe!

Some well earned ebay bhp here....

thats 166 bhp per 1000cc of displacement maybe a little much ( my evo does around the same amount )

True, but no Turbo's/Supercharger/NOS mentioned. However if it was a bike engine reving to 14k then I could beleive it. The R1 is 189bhp with 1000cc

Yep I was being a little ironic with the 'maybe a little much ' :)

Superchips own website states a 6hp increase for the 1.2 16v 78bhp twinport engine at a cost of £293. Add an optimistic 4hp increase for the induction kit and you've still only got 88hp. Those reinforced pistons (with scaffolding?) must be some specialist kit to release a further 112 ponies.

Are we not all forgetting the all important tripple exhaust system, that's got to be a straight through job, racing headers! So there is another 50bhp! Although why 3? does one cyclinder not need an exhaust?

I know someone on here who will like that

Feck yeah, wonder what the Saab would looke like with three exhausts? Possibly a dual exit at the back and another coming out of the front bumper for maximum bhp-age.

Could always go for stacks comming up the back of the Legnum!

Ok i agree with the slating of this as lets be honest why would you?

But to say that 168bhp per litre isnt possible in an N/A is just balls. It all depends on what has been done, and the type of engine. Yes you need revs, a lot of them infact, but it can be done.

I have managed 150bhp/litre out of a N/A civic reving to just shy of 10k. So it can be done, and there was room for more out of that also.

However has this little 3 cylinder achieved this, i doubt it very very much as the eco-tec's are just balls. But you do never know whats not been disclosed.

Sorry gowf no one actualy said that 166bhp per 1000cc on a NA was not acheivable , they just claimed that given the spec of custom pistons and a superchip it is highly unlikely . As Garerth001 mentioned the Yam R1 engine pumps out 190bhp as standard

Yes i know, but im not talking bike engines with the worlds smallest stroke or we could then bring F1 into it. Just saying that the likes of the s1600, or indeed some of the 1400's are pushing over 200bhp without any issues.

The thing is though, it is possible and quite plausable that he hasnt disclosed all the information. But when reading it closely, the fact that its 'fully superchipped' doesnt exactly bode well for claims of truth. That being said, he could have saved money, settled with 150bhp and just had it 'partialy' superchiped.

LMFAO @ Gowf!

Interesting proposition, though - could this 1.2 16v cyl engine be converted to create 200bhp? And how high would it have to rev to do it?

And just how awesome would a 3-cyl revving to 18k sound? :D :D :D

I love the way people like this de-badge their cars!

It's one of the most popular cars on the road, or was in its day in that generation, so when you see it you think: "Oh, just another sup'd up Corsa boy racer".

Hardly de-badging a Galant / Legnum you hardly ever see on the road to know!

I reckon it'd need to rev to 12000rpm to get 200hp out of it.

yeh, buts a 4 stroke and about as sharp as a spoon, my crossers used to kick out about 300bhp per litre.

lmao, look at the car rating!!

don't forget that purple metallic paint gives at least 30BHP....

at least if that crashes and burns there is another knob off the road... (no door handles)

Eww i feel dirty just looking on Chav powers website. Its highly unlikely that a metallic purple 1.2 16v multiplex cinema will do 0-60 in 6.2

Imagine all the extra weight that thing's dragging around too with that bodykit and the additional electrics and hifi stuff..
