That sounds like quite a beast you have there... would be keen to see some more pics. I know nothing about Eclipse.

Yeah, 4000 1st gens and 4000 2nd gens ..and a handfull of grey imports from the US (gst, gst cabriolet and gsx ) ..the 3rd gen ruined the eclipse (no more turbo,no more awd) and the 4th gen looks like an Audi TT :(

i Build the engine to change it to gst specs..afdter that all hell broke loose :D

look at the fmic..painted black :-)

Hahaha, I know nothing about this car :( Sorry, corrected my bad spelling ("ß"))

Cool - 441HP is quite a lot. I bet your car is fairly unique in Germany? Question: Given the fact that Germany (IMO) produces many cool cars, do German "autophiles" typically run German cars or is there a significant Japan scene?

raph

There is a huge german car scene..the jap scene is small..but the euro blokes know that when a jap car shows up.. its not to be taken too lightly .. i think every evo and sti are at least remapped - its cheap and reversible incase you need waranty work done.

The BMW scene is big, as well as the Audi sleepers.. enough AMG and M models rolling around.. Understatement is the key work in germany.. sleeper is where its at.

Ive got mates with supras,skylines,300zx and 3000 gts(gto) , s13 and s14,s2000,celica gt4,sti and evos .. and 1 or 2 RX-7s

Eclipse never lost an Autobahn race ..ever ..stoplight gp is a different story.

Most GS-ts are modded because its sooo easy..fit a 16g off an evo 3 and away you go lol .

a few years ago..my eclipse was unique, but there are loads of em pushing at least 360 . (atr least those without the body kits etc)

you can substitue ß with ss and ü with ue .. theres no gramatical error there.

Like i always say, if you find any mistakes, you can have em :computer: :-)

Thanks for the warm welcome

A manual is more rewarding if you are a "permanent driver"... i.e. willing to take the abuse of having to use a clutch every two seconds in stop-start traffic... Otherwise, the auto is very good.

This is my first auto and I'm pretty happy with it. Very good "interactive" cruiser.

We have no traffic where i live ..ie no annoying stop n go etc (small town)

Go for a manual every time then.

Agreed, go for manual if you can... but if auto is all that's available it's a suitable compromise.

Welcome Raph.

I visit Ramstein-Meisenbach regularly. I am supposed to be taking my VR4 for the next trip, perhaps we can meet up? I'm hoping to get a custom stainless exhaust fitted, do you know of any down that way? Was thinking that one of the companies may do it for the US guys.

it must be Auspuff stein then? just ask at the Hobby/Autoskills shop on base, one of the guys at the desk should know where the US guys get their stuff done.

heres the HP from VD-autotechnik..they say you can bring the car in the morning, theyll show you their various pipes etc,and your car is done in the evening-you get a loaner car in the mean while.

Like the Eclipse...got any more info on that Turbo, please?
Also was that a standalone ECU or a remap of the factory unit?

I assume that's a 7-bolt motor in there?

Raph, I hadn't found a specific one but I like the look of VD-Autotechnik. I only get one night normally but if I get a good system out of it I'd happily stay an extra night.

And the DSMs looked sooo much better than the Evos did , eclipse turbo was killed in favour of marketing the evos in the US.. the 3rd +4th generation eclipse is now just a 3000gt n/a replacement really ..3.8l bloated boat ..bah!

I wish i had treid to remap the original one... my mates were all using ecu flash at the time and no one ever thought about 2well lets try it here" so it was ecu+ and a patch harness (did get launch control and nlts tho)

Bullseye performance 57trim turbo .. i was one of the first in europe(if not the first!)to get their dsm housing turbos :-) as they said they hadnt shipped one my way before.

http://www.slowboyracing.com/product.php?productid=5676&cat=4333&page=1

that is the tubbie (newer polished version i guess- i opted for the 57 instead of the 50 ..wanted moar powa!)

yes, seven bolt hotness..broke and was replaced by anoth 7 bolt becaused i sold my "overrated 6 bolt" for lotsa money(500 euro for a naked block ftw!!! )money needed to make..moar powa!!

slowboyracing.com and extremepsi.com are the dsm specialists bar none.. and dejontool.com too

http://www.slowboyracing.com/home.php?cat=6402 i wish they knew about the 8g vr4..

SBR has greatly improved their shipping times too..it used to frustrating, then they got fast! extremepsi used to deliver my order in 3 days! 3 days!

There's a red Eclipse round the corner from me, with dragon markings down each side. It's suffered the lateral arm ball-joint failure we also have and just sits there. Such a nice car to be left to rot on a front garden!

Lee....go and make him an offer :D

Thanks Raph - good info. I've had some bad experiences with SlowBoy in the past. I believe they've had a change of management, premises and totally revamped the website, so maybe they were in a bad place?

I've got a 7-bolt DSM motor in my Evo, so I'm quite interested in what direction to take it. The budget has a big fat cap on it, so the quest for "Powah" has to be tempered with some common sense.

Mine is "Chipped". On the std engine it ran 310bhp or so, just before the head gasket let go, and that was at 1.Bar. I dread to think what it'd make with a bit more boost.

Early ECUs can't be ECUFLASHed or ECUTEKed: it's a physical ROM, so I've been looking at stuff like the Ostrich.

oooh evo 3?? id say if you want all the horses to show up at 3500-3900 rpm..go for the bullseye turbo.. it was just a huge wallop, 16 and 20g have nothing on it .

Oh and fit 272 cams at the same time and whatch her scream like a banshee to 7400 rpms!

Why.. no nasty external waste gate, just port the 16gs o2 housing, i vote to fit the injectors off an evo 8 or 9 and an uprated pump and we will be fine for 20 psi .

Oh you def need a thicker fmic core ,

Evo BOV wont hold, so youll need the 1g BOV ., oh and stock AFM is a no-no too for this application ..then we want moar powa!

I suggest you start saving up :-) DSMs and siuch are so much fun /Banana

And now youve gone and gotten me all excited :rabbit:

Be warned* due to the easy tunability of these motors, you will find yourself getting bored and buying new upgrades two weeks after the last set has been fitted** you cant have enough BOOST

My HG went twice, no big deal.. i even was running more compression than a stock evo3 (9.5 i was) youll learn how to fix these things in no time.. my mates eagle talon(monster 2.4 build) had everything uneccessary removed from the engine bay.. headgaskets were a 40 min jobbie

Raph, had a response today from vd-autotechnik. They don't build exhausts any more. :(

EVO 1,2 and 3 motor will all destroy their ringlands and rod-bolts at that sort of level of tune, so these are the first items on the list. We're not all fully forged, ya know.

At the moment I'm trying to work out how to size the correct big-end shells and buy some rings for the new pistons, drop a radiator and some new coolant hoses into it, and (hopefully) it'll make the most of the big 16g that's on there.
