Hi guys,:)
Fancied a change from my galant sport and it needed to be a manual with 4 wheel drive so i opted for a mazda 6mps, now i am thinking of selling and doing what i should of done in the first place and importing a facelift manual type v.

The thing is i have not driven a vr-4 in either manual or auto so i was wondering if some kind soul would let me have a drive in theirs so i can be sure have made the right decision.

I am off work this week so anytime would be OK with me.

/thankyou

Mike

In Essex = Yes
VR4 = Sorry, can't help - mines the NA V6

Though I do occasionally see a Legnum around Southend lowered to the floor :d and driven by a "more mature" man and his good lady wife... :2thumbsup

Thanks for the info mate, fingers crossed someone can help me experience a vr-4 and help me make the decision to sell the 6mps and buy a vr-4

why sell the mps? as a stock car they are way better than the stock vr4, and they cost the same to tune give or take. and they drive nicer due to the fact they are more modern, very little difference in fuel consumption either.

Yep, thats what attracted me to mps originally, but after owning her for 6 months there are to many little things that are making me think i made the wrong decision.

I knew about the aggressive clutch and turbo issues when i brought the car, but after hearing a banging noise from the rear when i dropped down the gears on a B road session, i started to search some Mazda mps forums (mostly U.S ) and read about common problems with rear diff mounts breaking and bolts shearing, so i had a look under the car as best i could, nothing broken but more rust under there than under my 10 year old galant :o

The more i searched the more probs people seemed to be having, engine mounts, leaky transfer case, 2nd gear selection and to many FOMCO parts for my liking :angry:
I don't want to bitch about Mazda too much it's just the car had the positional to be a real cracker but comparing it to my galant which i still have, i just don't have that confidence regarding reliability:(

I am in Essex (Harlow) and am on the M11,M25,A12 every day so am sure I can drop by your way, although as I am running stock boost on my VR4 I am about a second and a half slower than the uprated boost guys at Santa pod, although I didnt try ripping half my interior out for a faster time (looks in Mikes general direction /GJ)

I'm up in Colchester this weekend with the VR-4.

So... if you can get yourself up to Colchester, you're more than welcome to come out for a spin in mine :) (And, if you've got adequate insurance cover, have a drive, too)
