Could be a number of issues.
Is it all cylinders or just one or even 2 adjacent ones.
Could be head gasget.
Badly seating valves or burnt ones
Worn piston rings
Or even bent valves due to a cam belt breakage. (poss incorrect valve timing)
To name a few. Can result from very high mileage and is just worn out.

You diversifying into other marques now then Mo or is this a one off ?

Can't help you with the problem myself but AP Motors may be worth a call as they do quite a bit of work on Scoobies (apparantly the engines aren't the strongest) and may be able to point you in the right direction ;)

I thought scoobies had boxer engines? Doesn't this mean 2 head gaskets?

:dunce:

If that's the case , then yes they would !

The suggestions are just possibilities to look for which would, in all fairness, apply to any engine.
