im well proud of myself ive only gone and fitted the alternator to me vr4 follingg the instuction on the vr-4 club forum woop woop with a great big "thankyou" to "Peter Thomson" for providing me with the alternator which is a lovely alternator may i add :drummer:

yeah wouldent even of even tryed to attempt it with out the guide was very inforative and accrate

Is the alternator your first bit of mechanics? If so: well done, it's not the simplest of jobs!

Just did the pads in works car park in the dark.

yeah besides installing xenons and the odd wheel change on prevous cars lol glad to hear you done brakes on looking at mine today when i had the wheel off think i gonna need to do em sooner rather than later engine sounded real tappy aswell so think i ll do n oil and brake change v/soon

Nice one Karl. As Steve says, the alternator is bloody awkward to do, so well done for getting that done, particularly as you've not tackled much in the way of mechanics before. :thumbsup:

thanks every one for the support (knew that suuport group was a good idea lol) steelie you have just made me choke on me coffee as i read that lol id love to but im sure id be more use a a brew boi pmsl my next job is the stepper motor clean that ive been to scared to touch but now im a fully fledged mechinic this will be a peice of piss (not!!!)

the stepper motor looks a mare to get at and thats with mine all stripped down too!!!!

no itll be worth doing it just wont be a 2 minute job!!!

It takes 2 hrs to get the throttle body off and strip the motor and clean it and maybe another hour to refit it.


You can bypass the coolant pipes too, whilst it's off.

It's really not a big deal.

Speak for yourself, i reckon mine was doing something useful at -14 last year! :) /haz

Legnum was fine driving around at -5 in the UK...and that's about as cold as it got.

Can't make allowances for your foreign types :D
