View Full Version : Regular Monthly Meet Day - Auckland Members (and others)

Following the cancellation of the Maretai Run (http://www.clubvr4.com/forum/showthread.php?t=46156), we are considering a regular monthly meet day. This will allow, some of the new members to meet some of the old members and talk and compare cars. Maybe even plan subsequent events or attendances to other car events.

Other members for other regions can attend if they make the trip up.

Meet Locations
18 April 2010 - North Shore (http://maps.google.com/maps?f=d&source=s_d&saddr=-36.810144,174.689175&daddr=&hl=en&geocode=&mra=mi&mrsp=0&sz=19&sll=-36.810384,174.689899&sspn=0.001452,0.002674&ie=UTF8&t=h&z=19)

Dude, I think you need to take a stauncher approach on it if you want to make it happen.

Just do it, the followers will follow!
I think the above wont be long lasting to tell you the truth.
Monthly is sort of a little bit clinical and is a long time between meets.

You need to do something that is a fun, why don't you just do what we do down here?
Seriously who wants to meet in a car park/cafe...etc
Do something that is fun also and has a bar :)

Lol, Yes Shane a bar.... but as I recall you have been absent for a couple of weeks :P

But yea, we have a meet up every fortnight, usually we play pool at a place in town, We meet up, have a few games, a few laughs, chat about our cars etc...

sounds like a plan but mothly sounds good every 2 weeks is a bit much because in auckland we have jobs not play'n with sheep all day like the south island lol jst play'n guys relax.... :P

I think a Sunday afternoon/evening meet to play pool, maybe in one of the pool bars in town would be cool.

Maybe fortnightly would work we can always mix it up with bowling or go-karts every so often?

What do you guys think?

120 + views and only 8 votes so far after 2 weeks and not even a single committee member (even after one of them supported the idea (http://www.clubvr4.com/forum/showpost.php?p=516668&postcount=58) ) - very disappointing /Hmmm

And how many members do we have in Auckland ?

I suppose the majority of people no longer want to simply meet up regularly like Gly says, our club (at least Aucklanders anyhow) only want to meet on the forum.

everyone just has too much on these days!

Richard, you are never going to get consensus by asking everybody's opinion. We have a committee to make decisions on meetings etc so I suggest the committee pick a regular date and venue and get it off the ground. If you do not get any support, then so be it, but at least you have done your bit.

wtf.. the %'s are messed up:

1st Saturday 1 10.00%
1st Sunday 5 50.00%
2nd Saturday 0 0%
2nd Sunday 6 60.00%
3rd Saturday 1 10.00%
3rd Sunday 8 80.00%
4th Saturday 0 0%
4th Sunday 4 40.00%

I think this is a great idea especially if Richard is willing to be behind organising it.

I think even if it is just a monthly meet up at mission bay or somewhere similar on a sunday it would be great. I am sure the NZ committee would be willing and able to put up sausages etc for members and possibly as a fund raiser for others in the area. Most of the membership does go to paying the hosting, but i am sure there is enough for sausages, and i will take someones BBQ on the ute if need be.

I think a regular location and time is going to be the key for this succeeding. Sundays works best for me, but i guess those with sport commitments might prefer the saturday?

Also for the record my car has now had the rego on hold for 12 months and 3 weeks.. getting out and about *may* actually prompt me to put it on a trailer and pay up to get it running.

I have been in Christchurch for the week and only just got back this morning.

..and been rather busy as well.

But I'm still keen for a regular meet on sundays, just might not be able to attend every week etc...

Bit of a dodgy area, there are quite a few gangs around that end of Panama Road.

Maybe somewhere on the Shore?

And suggest some others. I am hoping to find a meeting place near the sea.

Yeah I'm not too keen on Panama road either.

The one on the shore looks good, there are a few places around there that are quite nice.

WTF is up with that little place just below Kauri Point Domain, about 2km south of the point Richard linked to. Check out how the buildings are arranged. Looks like a strange convent or something?

nuthing wrong with panama rd theres a black power pad there but we dont drive past it to get to where was suggested plus they keep 2 them selfs anyway i have that on good authority... and yea that place is normaly quiet. there's a good place accross the water 2 on tiraumea place. or lloyd elsmore park theres always heaps of place's in there 2 take fotos

I disagree with your view on Panama Road - I used to live there last year, and evey few weeks there was a P lab bust or some other drug/violence related call out at either end of the road.

As a result I'm not too keen on having my car down there anymore, and we do actually have to drive near the Black Power pad to get to that area.

I'm a lot more keen on the Shore or somewhere central... Maybe Milford Beach even? It's just a short hop across the bridge and fairly easy to get to. Also has a motorway onramp/offramp for north and southbound just a few minutes away from the beach.

Hello Phil!

It would be good to see photos of meets. My chances of getting to Auckland are even closer to zero than normal at the moment but photos are always good. Whilst I wish you lots of luck this thread hasn't been posted on for nearly nine years - NZ activity has really slowed down.

If you do get a meet going, did I mention photos would be good? And enjoy your Legnum! :D
