View Full Version : broken bolt on inlet manifold

changed the plugs tonight and came across a broken front bolt on the inlet manifold,there is enough thread sitting up to weld a nut on to would the heat from the welding do the heads any harm

I dont think it would matter if you just tacked something onto it.

Have you thought of trying a stud extractor tool first?

Which bolt exactly? One which holds the plenum on? Pics might help.

Maybe its worth the aggro now getting the screw extracted, as in when you come to plugs next time you will have to snap that bolt head off and renew the weld.

its a front one about 2.5in long that holds the plenum on the threads of the bolt is still sitting 0.5in up enough to get a bolt tacked onto it remove it i was wondering if the heat would do any damage to the head i was going to try a bolt extracter on it to see i it would budge but a was afried in case it broke further down and then it would need drilled and tapped
