After looking at the Fuse block legends, whilst some are fairly simple others are not the easiest to decipher. Translated from the original Japanese VR4 Handbook, not the crap english translated handbook some of us have been supplied !

Awesome. Excellent work Kat /yes

Have some rep :)

Do you know what might normally be located in those 'spare' locations? Maybe stuff for the UK cars like cruise, headlamp washers? How about cold spec vs warm spec VR4 differences?

just thought i would ask, what about the relays above the cabin fuses.

first one on the left is heated rear window relay

the one above that is the heater relay.

Dave.

I have to re-take the picture for the cabin one as I'm missing the spare 10amp fuse in that pic, so I'll make sure it includes those relays and the descriptions for them too !!

who could ask for any more.

your write ups are great on the ECU as well. i have been using the engine ecu one today, very handy.

Gee,

Hard crowd to please, GalantOnly, your update included notations regarding Cruise control, AFAIK VR4's didn't come with factory cruise, so should I assume this post relates to V6 24, just want to confirm accuracy before I update the original post seeing it only relates to VR4 fuse block.

But yes, I hadn't noticed that 15amp fuse, what a PITA, I just went down and bought a single fuse for the spare... LOL time to make another trip to the spareparts store... well spotted thank you !!!

This is pretty cool..... sorry to hijack this thread a moment, but the blue fuse in the bottom left hand corner of the fuse box from under the bonnet. Labelled as 100 amp fusable link, what is it for?..... the main reason I would like to know is mine has completely melted, it hasnt caused any issue for the two years I have owned the car........... also if anyone knows where I can replace it and how to remove it... that would be awesome!!!!

Thats probably why my battery dies quickly....... I looked for the fuse before in halfords, is it available in a normal motor store or is it a specific mitsi item??

There are two tiny screws that fasterns the bottom of the fuse with the wires. Remove them and just pull the fuse out /yes

Thank you both, Kitty and GalantOnly, I figured the screws were simply holding the connecting wires inplace, and put the difficulty in removing the bloody thing to the fact it had completely melted......

I am hoping I'll beable to replace this tonight.......... thanks again,

Just so you know if anyone is looking to replace these they seem to be Mitsi specific.. Couldn't find any locally so managed to pick some up online....

/yes very specific
That's why it's a perfect and cheap immobilizer to remove the 30A "ignition relay" fuse in the engine fuse box... They are hard to get in a hurry

And for those messing around with the clock wireing the permanent positive violet wire is on fuse number 1- Cabin Courtesy Lights

Okay just curious does anyone know about the ETAC ECU part number for Galant VR4 1997 pfl? does EC5A 1997 and EC5A 2002 and EA5A V6 2000 share the same ETAC ECU?

If you are going to pull the AYC and ABS fuses for adverse weather conditions, which ones do you pull, the small 10amp ones in the cabin or the 60amp ones under the bonnet?

CANDEE

Just pull the big orange one on the ABS unit Graham. :)

Can anyone tell me more about the fog fuses in the engine bay fuse box? Fuses number 4 & 10 in the first post. They are labelled on this thread as left and right, but one is 20A and one is 10A. Presumably this is because the 20A one runs more than just the "Fog lamps - right"? I have a car that blows the 20A fuse as soon as the battery is connected, so I was hoping to work out which systems come off it to help narrow down the cable tracing.

From looking at the symbols, I would have said that number 4 is for the front fogs full stop, and that number 10 is for rear fogs (i.e. fuse 4 faces the same direction as the headlamp symbols). Obviously JDM cars don't have rear fogs as standard, but they may have left the factory with standard fuse boxes, including some UKDM/EUDM differences, perhaps.

Anyway, I've just tried it on mine. Put the fog lights on, then went and pulled the no 4 20A fuse. Lo and behold, both front fogs extinguished. Repeated it, but with the no 10 10A fuse - and nothing at all. I checked the dash lights too. Couldn't see anything different.

Hope that is *some* help! :)

How on earth do you get to the bolt on the back of the 100 amp link fuse?

Thanks
