I have been looking for an easy, nice and clean way to wire the reverse light switch in without having to change the loom.

Today I found it. Unfortunately you do need a spare passengers side (Left side) ABS sensor. Fortunately for me I have a spare parts car...

Works a treat, pics below show what I did.

Nice! Which wire goes on which wire at the ABS plug? And what to do with the extra ABS sensor itself?

The extra sensor isn't needed as far as I can tell. I think you just need it because the connector happens to be one that matches the manual reverse switch.

I just use a couple of crimp connectors, but this is a nicer solution! Kudos to working out a good connector.

The best bit is the fact that the reverse beeper still works!

Scott is correct, you ditch the ABS sensor and just use the connector.
The orientation doesn't matter as it is just a switch, so it works by connecting the two wires.

Nick - You mean you like the beeper?! Do you have an auto or manual dash?

I have found that there are a number of different connectors which can be used, without destroying an ABS Sensor /pan

pre-facelift (not checked facelift) fog light harness (both sides)
Regulator connector
Front ABS sensor harness connectors

Is likely that there are more, I will update if I find more. However, with this list I have another at least 4 I would be willing to use.
