I've currently got the car up on 4 stands so it's level and am draining the fluid from the transfer case. But the drain bolt looks to be higher than the lowest point of the case.

Is the bulby low point a sump that we somehow need to be able to drain? Because it's not going to come out by gravity, so if need be I'm going to have to get some suction onto it.. stat!

When I do mine, I just push a bit of new oil through to flush it before replacing the drain bolt, then fill as usual.

It also takes a long time to fill . Add some oil let it settle , check and top up again. This could take a few times

Measuring up what came out, it was spot on 500ml. So there is either something stuck in the lower section or the previous workshop didn't put the required 620ml in. The workshop that did it last is primarily experienced in Evos - do their transfer cases only use 500ml? Just wondering why it's arrived at this amount.

OK, filled it up now. Took 600ml precisely, so must have been underfilled.

Yep, same transfer case in EVO 4-6. I'd guess that they filled it up quickly and didn't let it settle down.
