Bloody Potholes

Was coming home from work, still on works road & i hit a pothole. Which i got an almighty bang come from the nearside. I only saw this thing until it was too late as it was dark. Got out and had a look, this pot hole was about 5-6 inches deep (no smutty jokes). The car seems to drive ok doesnt pull to one side. However is there anything i could check to see if ive not damaged anything.

take the wheel of and put it on a balance machine to check for roundness
& have the alignment checked
