My '96 VR-4 idles at about 600rpm. Seems smooth so not a problem but did notice tonight that the oil light flickers on idle. Is 600rpm normal? Can it be ajusted?

Have searched.

600rpm sounds about right, mine idles at 650rpm when fully warmed up (and when the A/C is not running).

The reason for the oil light flickering could be that your oil pressure switch is on it's way out or you may actually have low oil pressure. Have you got a seperate oil pressure gauge?

Oh, and yes the base idle can be adjusted.

your oil pressure sensor may just be a bit knackered. mine failed about a year ago. got a replacement from camskill for about £8.
been ok ever since.

by the way i think it should 650-750rpm at idle, but 600rpm is no big deal. you can adjust the idle speed screw on the top front of the throttle body.

check the oil level as well, if it is a bit low then this can show up as low pessure.
