This morning, I spotted, what I thought was a colt, then realised it had a coupe shape and then saw the evo looking back end? A colt mirage Asti??

Apparently made from from 1978 till 2002? I saw a 51 plate car.

Looked a bit like this one for sale on pistonheads, altho without the spoiler and evo bumper.

http://www.pistonheads.com/sales/1565350.htm

That pistonheads one has been *slightly* modified but I bet it goes well with the vec lump.

[wine tasting voice]

mmmMMmmmm yes yes I'm getting colt...colt...and Evo....and Carisma.....there's a strong hint of Eclipse here...mm yes, a good body, but lacking in punch...and...er....traction(?).

Yes, this could be a Mitsubishi Carisn'tma.
It's like nothing ever before.

They're not uncommon over here. I have a friend with one, and you see them getting around quite a bit.

I'm surprised that this example has 5 stud wheels, don't they normally have 4 stud?

Given that it's also got some other bolt-on bits, I'd be willing to gamble someone has changed the wheel hubs.

I'd be interested to know if it would accept a 4G63T.....and if it would accept 4WD. Would make a nice alternative to the Eclipse.

There are heaps of lancer and mirage coupe's over here that look very similar to that. They accept the same front and rear bumpers as EVO's, hence that one above. There are a few with full evo drivetrains.

People basically build them into 'lancer evo' coupes. Some are done quite well and it shows where Mitsubishi missed a niche!

Yeah its a strange car looks wise esp with the cues from other mitsu's but I do like it.

Shame that not many made it to the UK tho. I could see evo coupe conversions with all the running gear being quite desirable!

I had one as my first car. a Mirage Asti V. 1.3 cross between a colt and lancer

Loads of them over here, Jap imports only, unless I'm mistaken.
