After dropping the old oil, I found it to be very magnetic . . .
Here is a telescopic pick-up tool 'stuck' on it.
Can you guess where this came from on my VR4 ?

Diff oil with broken bits of diff still in the oil which is what the magnet is catching on?

There are no visible parts of metal as such, they're all very, very small (and numerous !)
Keep guessing. . .
p.s.
I'm still driving the car but with new oil !

Based on the qty it's most likely the transfer box or the AYC clutch pack. I reckon the latter as it's looks like a 5l ATF tub.

That's why I put the picture of the container up. You thought it was a 5L ATF tub.
I thought you'd come straight back with the answer.
You did get it correct, though Kev pushed you away a little ! [That was a good 'un , Kev.]

LOL, I've been temoted with it but have a show on the 9th MAy as well as a 2 week trip to the UK over Easter. If I could work the costs and get an exhaust fitted at the same time it culd be a possibility.
