its a shame they did not do a series where Gene Hunt and his gang ended up in 2010 their non PC attitude would have been quite funny

Life on mars was good but no where near as funny as ashes to ashes. Some of the last episodes of the previous series were hilarious. John Sim was a bit too awkward acting at times so life on mars just wasn't that funny and seemed a bit amateur. Still loved all of them though. Love the audi too!!

totally lost at the end

Cracking ending and yes a little confusing so here goes.

Gene Hunt is kind of God (In his way) who rescues Police officers :bobby2: from Purgatory.

Jim Keats is the devil who looks after a cop kinda of hell. :evil2:

You saw Shaz, Ray & Chris in there video`s die so they were already dead and then went into the pub (The railway arms) which is the door way to heaven.

The railway arms was from "Life on Mars" run by good old Nelson.

They had to go to that pub as Luigi had returned home and closed his.

Alex Drake had also died at 9.06 as that was the time it always was.

Sam Tyler is probably dead?

Back to Gene Hunt. Remember the Police officer :bobby2: with the blown away face well that was Gene.
In the house with all the coronation stuff in is where Gene got shot and killed and that's what he was describing when Jim turns up.

Shaz, Ray, Chris and Alex had to go through that door as time had been called but Jim & Gene could`nt because of who they were.

That maybe the end of Ashes to Ashes but it`s not the end as another gov comes through the door at the end. Shame we had to loose this cast but the story line dictates it I`m afraid so look forward to more from these great writers.

Hope this has helped some and others would of already known.

Oh and as for the Quattro WTF!!! The car is dead. R.I.P

I know that Ray, Chris, Shaz & Alex were all dead but which two eras did Ray and Chris die in?

Ray died on the 1st May 1976 the evening after the FA cup final between Man Utd & Southampton of depression.

As for Chris it was again in the 70`s not sure when but around the very early part.

i had to sit and think about all last night and come up with the same conclusion, just a shame Sam Tyler could'nt have made a guest appearance in the last show

Good ending , left a lot open but still closed down enough

But I think the next series has a lot to live up to , maybe a 90's theme

The depression was more guilt I would say, after he accidentally killed a young male outside of a pub whilst arresting him for pissing up the wall.

Yes Lee that was part of the reason he killed himself but the main one was he felt he let his father down by not fully enlisting in the Army.
