Hi

Tried to de-ice the windscreen this morning but the aircon isn't working. The display works, but the motor doesn't. It worked yesterday.

Where are the fuses?
Any suggestions what I can do?

Thanks

When you say the aircon, do you actually mean the air conditioning compressor, or are the fans just not blowing?

Hi

Thanks for getting back. The fans definitely don't work, though I'm unsure about the compressor.

I've checked the relay (engine) by swopping it with the horn.

Power windows and clima panel work so can I assume Fuse 14 is working

I would check the 2 plugs on the back of the control panel next

How do I access them?

Thanks

If you need Motor or Control Unit? I have both here.

Hi Peter

How do I access them?

Thanks

V

If you can't reach them through the glovebox then you will have to remove the gearlever surround and then pull the dash part with the control out.

Gave them a good 'yank' but still nothing! Nice tip about going through the glovebox as I had not only screwdrivers but also a crowbar and even a jaws of life ready to remove the dash.

Any suggestions on how to proceede?

thanks

Just make sure they are clicked into place before going down the route of changing the unit . I would go through the fuses under the bonnet as well as the cabin ones just in case though

Our fan transistor pack went, so we didn't have the fans working.

Very simple to replace, simply 2 screws and one electrical connector, once you've removed the little plastic panel underneath the glove box.

Take a look at this thread here (http://www.clubvr4.com/forum/showthread.php?t=44942) for pictures of it. The part number is MR283263

Hi
Both connectors are in place. I've checked fuse 14 and in the engine fuse 5 and relay G.

I'm usually very positive but am starting to accept that it's the motor.

As garry mentioned I would check the resistor next to rule it out if you have a multimeter

To confirm the fan itself is working, you can connect up 2 of the wires from that connector, and the fan should then come on full speed.

From memory, two of the wires (12v in and power out) are larger than the other one (signal) - it's the two larger ones you want to connect together.

if it is the resistor then i have a couple here

Hi

I got the resistor out but all the wires (circled) are the same. Any advice?

What does this resistor do?

Thanks

Slows the fan down, usually.....

How do I test to see if it works? I can't see the wires Confused referred to.

Thanks

It'll be the wires in the plug that you unclipped.

I can't remember which wires it was now, possibly the two circled at the bottom of your picture?

If you've got a multi-meter, make sure you check them first! One should be 12v, another should have nothing, the third should change voltage based on what fan speed is set on the climate control screen.

You'll want to hook up the ones that show 12v and nothing together.

Thanks for the advice. I'll get a multimeter over the weekend.

Hi
There are 3 wires going into the fan resistor plug. Any advice as to what they are ?
