Well done! Good choice! I studied at Aberdeen back in the Dark Ages INSERT INTO post VALUES (l o n g time ago :) ) and the city has grown a bit since then. What are you going to be studying?

Some interesting websites about the place if you haven't already seen them:

The University of Aberdeen (http://www.abdn.ac.uk/index.hti)
Aberdeen & Grampian Tourist Board (http://www.agtb.org/)
Aberdeen Football Club (http://www.afc.co.uk/)
What's On Aberdeen (http://www.whatsonaberdeen.co.uk/)
Aberdeen Today (http://www.aberdeentoday.co.uk/)
Granite City.com (http://www.granite-city.com/home/home.php)
Webcam! (http://www.aberdeencity.gov.uk/acc/YourCity/webcam/default.asp)

Enough there for some bedtime viewing .... :D

Natives are generally friendly. I'm sure you'll enjoy it, if you can live with the weather. Bring your coat - it's freezing, although it can be colder still in winter ;) :D

I currently live in Aberdeen. It's quite a good town - small enough to walk around easily but big enough to have loads of pubs and restaurants.

Don't want to write a whole review of the town here, so if you want some more info PM me.

You'll enjoy it - enough said, really!
