That stuff is selling on Opie Oils for £33.84 (http://www.opieoils.co.uk/p-60155-gulf-multi-vehicle-atf-automatic-transmission-fluid.aspx) for just four litres. So the lot on eBay is currently less than half price.

And - well, well, well - it would indeed appear to be a fully-synthetic ATF that is also SP-II & SP-III compatible. /Hmmm

It looks reasonably comparable to Amsoil's ATF:

- Gulf ATF spec sheet (http://www.opieoils.co.uk/pdfs/gulf-oil/gulf-multi-vehicle-atf.pdf)
- Amsoil ATF spec sheet (http://www.performanceoilsltd.co.uk/automatic_transmission_fluid.html)

It would be useful to see the results of the 'four-ball' wear test for the Gulf ATF.

Opie Oils for 20L of Gulf ATF = £186.59 (members' price, inc VAT and delivery)
(with current Easter Offer, £159.83 total)

Opie Oils again for 20L of Amsoil ATF = £223.31 (members' price, inc VAT and delivery)
(with current Easter Offer, £191.05 total)

Performance Oils for 20L of Amsoil ATF, including members' discount and delivery = £220.97

That lot would do you for a complete gearbox flush and fill, plus numerous AYC changes!

Anyway, is the Gulf enough of a saving? What you can't ignore is how good (and tried and tested) Amsoil ATF is for our gearboxes. We have no (unless anyone can say otherwise) experience of the Gulf ATF in our 'boxes. The difference is around £35 over 20L. While it's good to seek out alternatives - I like what I know in this instance, and will be sticking with Amsoil ATF myself. :)

Don't be mislead by "suitable" trick! It means nothing, sombody good wish, but nothing at all.
IMO, it should be: "approved by...", "recommended", "in compliance with", etc. to be sure it's right oil.

As far as I know, if it's stated as being 'suitable', it has to be, otherwise that would, I assume, be a Trades Descriptions offence.

The 'recommended by', etc. statements usually have to be paid for by the oil companies. As far as I am aware, Amsoil's ATF has none of those approvals! Don can probably enlighten us as to the approval process. /yes
