Is this normal?

Yes :)

I got 257km before tanking up, with 42 Litres. There is actually 60 Litres available in a full tank.

I have started to collect my Petrol Receipts and writing on the actual A - Trip kms on the receipt. I will then collect them and work out the average km/L over a period on time.

I use the B-Trip to record Oil Kms and change mine every 5,000 km

I filled up the other day with just over a 1/4 tank left and my odo was 211. :(

I have been avoiding doing trying again. I don't think I want to know.

I was talking to a 96 VR4 owner who reckons he gets 350 to a tank which sounded optimistic to me.

I lost a folder on my computer recently - which one? The one with ALL my VR4 car files.

I had been keeping a track of all my mileages plus petrol receipts, parts, service charges etc etc and from memory my mileage worked out at 21.7 mpg over a three month period. The total cost per mile inclusive was £0.47 per mile. :sad3:

so its normal *sigh*

i travel 45mins each way from home to work & back again & it cost me about NZ$8 a day to drive well i do let my car warm up before every trip for about 5-10mins & let it cool down after trips as well so i guess that could contribute to my bad mileage rate

my old 1.6l car did about 550km's to a full tank, & the fuel tank was smaller, blah

Lets face it, VR4s are shocking when it comes to fuel consumption. I have even made V8 drivers feel better when I tell them the number of kms I get.

But there is always a compromise when it comes to cars. Sure a Toyota Echo has great fuel efficiency but I certainly wouldn't want to drive one.

Every trip in a VR4 is a driving experience.

well thats just put me right off. I was gonna get a Vr4 tomorrow but I think I will get a 2.5ST instead.

I am buying mine to use for my business and others may well drive it too, so I don't want it having to be filled up every couple of days, I think I will be happy with the ST anyway, still got 4 wheel drive, and a similar engine to my diamante, so I know its a good un, will have to see what tuning I can get out of that.

300 km odd for 54 litre, and it's a manual. if you wanted economy then you certainly brought the wrong can, if you wanted a borderline super car you did the right thing.

Saying that I tend to keep it on boost most of the time and have an extremely heavy foot.

Ditto here for me too. I drive fairly hard most of the time and get 220 -270 miles thats about 300-400kms per tank.

350km plus on mine, thats even with little bit of playing. Freeing up the exhaust etc would help the car get better km's/miles.

Mines auto and a heavy Legnum.

hiya,

I have a 25ST(for sale in fact) and a VR4. The 25ST gets 380km to a tank round town and around 600km on road trips. Could I possible suggest you buy an ST-R as although I've never driven one, I believe they have a better suspension setup and would be more responsive on the road, yet get the same mileage. The difference in handling between my VR4 and 25ST is HUGE. The ST being a lighter car seems to wallow and be no where near as responsive as the VR4 in everyday driving.

Cheers,
Matt
