Hehe - don't worry!

It means slightly different things between UK cars and JDM ones.

JDM cars, i.e. mainly Galant and Legnum VR-4s, were facelifted in 1998, and got the bigger bumpers, revised tailgate/lights (estate) and slightly different bumper lip/lights (saloon), as well as a couple of other tweaks, such as the auto VR-4's power being upped from 260PS to 280PS in line with the manual.

UK cars received a couple of facelifts, in approx 1998 and 2000. These changed things like the bumpers, badging, interior options, engine options, wheels, brakes, extra seatbelt in the rear. The tailgate was not changed on the estate though, so retained the 'prefacelift' rearend like the prefacelift Legnum.

Probably a good thing that the original question was answered by the second post!

Facelift: giving an old biddy some 'corrective' surgery to try to make her look better but everybody knows she will never look as good as when she was in her prime i.e. pre-facelift.

....Is the right answer!!:guitarist

The fact that NZ's most prolific goat violator prefers the fail-lift tells you all you need to know...

Fail lift is a bit Marmite - aspects of it are huge cosmetic improvements......but other aspects ruin it!

I think that might be what I have.

Is this the FL rear?

Yeah, for some reason UK cars retained the Pre-FailLift tailgate on the estates. The saloons did sport the Fail-lift tail lamps though.

Whilst no-one knows for sure, I wouldn't be surprised if the reason for this is because of the tail lamps and the red reflective strip that runs along the rear of the Fail-lift tailgate. I suspect their shape would have fallen foul of EU Type-Approval regulations.

/EDIT - and yes that is the Fail-lift rear in that picture.

Yep, thats the newer style from 1998 to 2002

Yeah I like the look of mine better, that looks a bit Star Trekkish.
