We are having a few problems with the above. The car developed a misfire, especially at tickover and when accelerating. A local guy diagnosed a cracked coil and claimed he had repaired it - the car was alright for a few weeks then the problem returned.
I bit the bullet and replaced what I thought was the faulty coil (cheaper than having the repair!) with a new one. The car was better, but it still has an intermittent misfire.
Does anybody have any idea if it is the other coil that is faulty as well or is it something else? I have spent around £200 on plugs, leads fuel filter and the previously mentioned. Incidentally, I was told that the plugs were long life but when I replaced them I discovered someone had put cheaper items in! I put the correct (£10 each) items in. Could the plugs have damaged the coils?
Any help would be appreciated as I am at my wits end - I could spend another £50 to replace the other coil but if it does'nt cure the problem.....
Incidentally the car has only done 68k and is in very good condition.
