Given this is a fully uk car from 2001 is it totally rusty underneath as they never had enough underseal from new ? , where as the Jap imports look like brand new

hmmmm..

I had the 80k service done by Mitsubishi and was very disappointed with the service they provided and the age of the mechanic, (just into puberty I think),

age has nothing to do with it, Ben @ Eurospec is only a nipper ;P ...lol (only kidding ben)!

so what hes saying really is the 80K service he had was no good? how? did he have the wrong oil put in? wrong sparks? ....dont think i want that car at all!

The CVR4 eBay Police ride again!

Goodness only knows what would have happened if he'd said it had 300bhp too! :rolleyes4

Roanne Red is a lovely colour /yes but as John has alluded to, if it's not had any more corrosion treatment since the original import, it is quite likely to be suffering badly from rust.

His repsonse back to me -:
having had my share of Jap imports they only look new coz they don't suffer the elements as we do, a couple of years over here they fall to bits... Its been well waxed underside good as far as I'm aware.

So I had to reply :-

given it is undersealed can you please provide me a photo of the underneath of the car , just under the boot area will be fine .

Japan suffers the same elements as the UK , infact it has worse winters than we do , the reason cars do not rust over there is that fact that do not use salt on the roads and we do .

You statement about them falling to bits after a couple of years over here is total rubbish they will outlast UK suuplied ones given they have not had exposure to salt for 10-12 years of the there life

Any way I await the photos as I have money waiting if car is good

He's posted a picture of a damaged wheel - now to me, the rim looks bent and the sidewall of the tyre is slightly deflected. Not good.

So i asked him to tell me which UK Mitsubishi factory his car was built in! And i got this back..

Lol, yes the same place all the other ones are made in the UK :-0. Log book states.... Date of first registration 13/11/01 Date of registration in the UK, guess what 13/11/01. Short of Mitsubishi illegally falsifying Documents it looks like the first mile the car did was on UK soil.

Either way, we all know the score on this. He is just uneducated on the subject I guess.

Nutter_John

or he is trying to decieve ?

Atik

Possibly...

Treat every car sale/purchase on its own merits and check it thouroughly regardless of the deal. If you have any doubts over certain details, walk away.

This guy clearly doesnt know what process was involved in the official imports. Either educate him if he is willing to learn, or leave him be if he throws it back at you. All we can do is help people on these forums by advising them if they decide to take a look at the car.

Well his reply regarding the insurance makes me think that he has this insured as a V6 Galant not a VR4 i had this problem a few years back even after telling the insurance company it was a VR4

the guy is not helping with his replies either

I swear I saw this car advertised on Autotrader in Norwich last year for £3500 at 98k. I can't believe there are two of this spec, age, colour within about 20 miles. £3100 and reserve not met after clocking up an extra 15k + he probably negotiated some money off. Does he think its gone up in value or something. I agree with everyone else - what a tool!
