I've been driving using Tiptronic to avoid a shuddering in 4/5th at low speeds in Drive. The vibration is avoided in Tip by changing down or holding in a lower gear as you would in a manual. The ATF was changed recently for Amsoil but only the gearbox not the transfer box etc. Would a full change possibly solve the problem?

Transfer box wont affect what youre describing. Was the oil completely flushed out???

Know the Pajero owners have similar problems with the 5 speed invecs box its caused by the torque convertor not locking up correctly. Sensation is like driving over a cattle grid at lower speeds in high gears normally 4th. No fix apart from a rebuild.

Hope it helps.

As Kev says - was the gearbox fully flushed first (i.e. using about 12L in total), rather than the contents of the sump being dropped only (about 6L), cos the other half in the gearbox won't have been changed?

Only about 5 litres of Amsoil was used so there must be an equal or greater amount of old stuff left in. Hopefully, that's the problem and a relatively easy fix - thanks for the advice.

There is a guide in the "members section" on how to correctly flush the A/T properly!!!!! Here (http://www.clubvr4.com/forum/showthread.php?t=11295)

when i first had mine there was a slight judder in 4th to 5th etc, after an amsoil flush never felt that ever again!

Sounds like the likely culprit!

Unfortunately, the 5L of new stuff will be ruined too now. :( So you will need a complete load of new ATF.
