This is a "true" story reported to me by our Helpdesk Staff

Our Helpdesk staff were checking up the details of an onsite printer.

Helpdesk: "Do you have a Workio DP twenty-five hundred"

Staff Member: " Don't know, I'll go an check ?"

Helpdesk: "And .... "

Staff Member: "Don't know ? I go check with Bill, he'll know"

Helpdesk: "OK .... "

Staff Member: "Bill says we don't have a DP twenty-five hundred, but we do have a DP two thousand, five hundred"

Helpdesk: "Groann .... Thanks you"

That reminds me of the, supposedly, true story about an IBM Helpdesk employee.

He had being going through the paces with this woman trying to work out why her computer wasn't working. He asked her to look at the cabling going into the back of it. She said she couldn't as it was too dark. He replied, just turn it around and bring it into the light. No, she said, you don't understand. It's too dark becuase we are experiencing a power cut.

Talk about a "why do I bother" moment. :-D

The apparent end to this, and the "supposed" true bit is that at this point the IBM guy asked her if she had kept the box it came in. She said yes. He said, please package it up and send it back to the person who sold it to you. She then says "Oh it's that bad then. What reason do I give them for the return?", he replies, "Tell them you are too stupid to own a computer"

An absolute classic in my opinion. :-D
