hi everyone

ive signed up on here because my dad is after a legnum vr4.
i myself drive a skyline gts-t

im just after some advice because we have been to look at one today a nice one that has been stud and is in need of tlc

it has the japanese sat nav screen and seperate tape player with cloth seats. im not sure if that can help distinguish it it also has contols for traction control next to the steering wheel

to me the car is a bargain as it aint done a lot of miles and engine seems right

there just a problem with a leak that looks to be oil from below at the gearbox

i want to know what the worst case scenario is is it just seals? how much would they be etc.

it is a semi auto 5 speed box

classic sign of a TC seal failure , your looking around 10-12 hrs labour + £15 for the seal and 12 litres of quality atf , 1liftre of 75/90

thanks for the quick reply

is that a common fault??

is it fairly straight forward to sort out or would i be better of geting a specialist??

and does anyone know of a specialist in the north west area close to manchester?

You need to drop the xfer box and the gearbox as well as loads of other bits , not one for the beginer

you can try Mo ( zedy1 ) on here , or Nick Mann Services in Brum , Richy Rich in Stoke

Hi & welcome to CVR4.

As john said TC seal failing. Thats what the bottom of my car looked like when mine let go last year.
