So, I have a home based job. the job requires travel a lot of the time, and they pay for meals and travel as soon as I leave home, even if I have to travel to the office. Been doing this for 5 years.
Today I put in a claim for travelling to the office last week. It was for a metting, where, I did not realise a breakfast would be provided, so I bought a sandwich , which I ate in the office .
My team leader , who has to scrutinise my claims, now tells me he's uneasy about me claiming £3.98.
What a tw4t - does he not think I will make up that £4 on my mileage claim, or somewhere else??
Just put an expense claim for a £16k moat around your house. That'll be sure to pass without questions /yes /lol

Got to love the mentality of things like this. An ex-colleague of mine used to travel a lot for the company, and was entitled to claim for breakfast, lunch and dinner if out for a long day. He left early, worked through lunch, and on his way back picked up a takeaway for him & the family as he got home around 9pm ; the claim for this was disallowed as "inappropriate"...?

My strategy might now be to send an email asking permission every time. I wonder how he'd like that?

Clearly you should have bought a meal from a Cafe for 15 pounds :)

Maybe you should develop some kind of food allergy that requires expensive alternatives to garage sandwiches on a frequent basis then mention the word 'discrimination' if they complain. Then enjoy the peace and quiet that follows.

Ive thought of load of fecitious responses, but as its near increase time (if we even get one this year), I'm just going let it go this time. When I think of all the times Ive lost a receipt, and then not claimed..... I wont be doing that in the future.
