There was a mention on here a while back that there is a wire missing from the flash port to the ECU? Might be worth checking that out as well.

Looking at the photo kitty provided the correct wire is there. I just need to find an ecu pinout to confirm how many wires for diagnostics are there.usually there are 3 on vehicles that can be flashed. 2 from the OBD port and 1 from the White port.

Hi Evonut,
I have that plug (same as Kitty'sVR4 pic)on my car, it has two pins, with two wires from it, a green and yellow wire and a Green with white dots wire. I have a VW audi cable with the earth pins 1 - 4 linked, and I can get readings of whats going on using evoscan, and record info from runs etc, i.e. speed afr etc, but I don't think that is what you were asking??.
VAG cable connects to obdII connector , I am in Glasgow and Ayrshire, but could meet up if you wanted a look. :)

Is it possible that the white 12 pin connector beside the black 16 pin OBDII conector is for removing fault codes?, so it would only re flash info to a volatile memory in the ecu??. (theory Based on this info from evo manual), (I know the evo's can be flashed etc, but the fact that the white connector on vr4's only has two pins in it and not as many pins as in the same connector in the evo, it may be used by the MUTII for fault removal??) just a wild stab in the dark! see info below, you will see in the drawing that the MUTTII has an extra connector on it.

7202 ecu's also only have 2 pins in the white socket !!!! ,
7202 ecu's are plug and play with the 7201 loom ,
therefore anything to do with the difference can only be the ecu and not the loom

proof in the pudding , Atiks car was a 7201 auto pfl , He now is a 7202 manual without changing the loom to the ecu

The White plug isn't used to erase fault codes. The fact that one of the wires goes to pin 79 on the ecu would suggest that the ecu can be accessed in some way. It seems that most mitsubishi ecus pinouts are very similar and 79 is always the flash/init sequence wire.

I was more surprised that the MUTII in the drawing has a connector for the white plug, so it connects to both the black and the white connectors?, I know mitsy use the OBDII "STYLE" connector, but use a different language(if you get what I mean), so your usual garage obd reader will have probs trying to get codes etc.
Even with only two pins in it the white connector must be used for something!, (that's why I mentioned it may be fault removal!).
I did wonder if it was possible to flash ecu info with a MUTII?, (second grab pic states
Quote "To replace immobilizer related parts, observe the table below. When the ignition key is re-registered with
the MUT-II, the originally registered ignition key registration information will be lost."
"When rewriting engine-ECU".
Is it pos the white connector is only used for rewritting the imobiliser and transponder key?

Is it pos the white connector is only used for rewritting the imobiliser and transponder key?i wouldnt have thought the legnums\galants have ecu controlled immobilisers but im happy to be proved wrong.most generic fault code readers will read OBD from the black port but on early cars alot wont read the codes.the white port is more for reprogramming
