Better late than never I guess :) I simply could not post pictures of it with the hoary wheels it had on before.
I went to swap them over to the E6 wheels which were procured as replacements (thanks Brad). Arrived at tyre shop only to discover that the existing (hoary) wheels were held on with locknuts and both tools I had for them were cracked :sigh:
Of course MMC parts are not open on Saturdays and there was no way for the existing nuts to fit into the E6 wheels, besides which even if they did I would still be unable to change the tyre in the event of a flat for example.
Thanks to Carsten I managed to pick up an entire set of MMC wheel nuts last night and was able to finally get rid of the old wheels and fit the E6's. The E6's have seen better days it must be said but they are still infinitely better than the crap that was on previously.
The tyres are Bridgestone LM001's 215/45/17 which are a little stretched on the 17x7.5 wheels. Anyway, enough yakking - pics:

Well there you have it. My 1998 "Super" VR-4. The first thing I did when I received it was remove all the number plate surrounds and stickers on the rear windscreen. It also requires some TLC, namely:
* New air filter (ASAP): It had what appeared to be a Ralliart panel filter but when I removed it, it became apparent that it was either a cheap copy or had been in there its entire life as it simply crumbled in my hands. Binned.
* ATF: definitely needs replacing as it is the colour of sherry - not good but still shifting okay. Will make inquiries as to fitting an ATF cooler.
* Brake discs: are at the end of their lifespan, quite rusted and the face of the discs is badly scratched on some of them.
* Brake pads and fluid
* Tyres: They won't last too much longer - noticeable wear on the outer edge of at least two tyres - makes me wonder if the previous owner ever rotated them.
* Engine oil / filter: Not encouraging that they have used "SINOPEC lubricants" which has no viscosity rating on the windscreen sticker.
Engine coolant appears new however and the power steering fluid is still red(ish).
Shock absorbers will probably need replacing in the not too distant future but for now they seem okay. Remarkably the car feels more sure footed around corners than my previous one for some reason (and it had fresh shocks). The Recaro seats and Momo steering are welcome additions, the steering feedback is much better and of course, lateral support is much improved too - so much so that the wife no longer complains about slightly higher corner entry / exit speeds :)
It has a Kenwood head unit and 10 CD changer in the boot which all work and thankfully there is a band expander fitted so I am no longer limited to Newstalk ZB or Mai FM as my only two FM options!
The car on a whole appears to be in pretty decent condition. There are a couple of dents and scratches here and there but it is 12 years old so hardly surprising really. It's great having an engine which doesn't tick! :p
The only annoying thing at the moment is that the previous owner had fitted these gaudy silver strips down the edge of the doors. Needless to say they were quickly removed but unfortunately they've left a lot of their sticky stuff behind. Tried using the orange based grease remover (kitchen calibre) but it doesn't work and no hair dryer to melt if off either.
