How easy is it to remove a starter motor from a 1997 vr4,allso a location would help(front/back of engine).

It's at the front of the engine near the oil filter and very easy to remove

Thanks for your reply,i have had a few vr4's but this is the first one i have had any problems with,i don't suppose you know where the starter relay is located?

Relay is on the inner wing next to the battery iirc

Thanks again Peter,i have unpluged this relay,so am i right in thinking car should not start with this relay unpluged.

No it shouldn't allow the starter to engage

As peter says.. the Starter motor won't work without the relay.

I am now totally gobsmaked i have removed the starter relay and the problem is the same,any ideas,thoughts.

My usual diagnostics man is unavaible,i thought removing the starter relay breaks the link from the ingition to the starter motor,but it has made no differance!/Hissy

the solenoid on the starter must be jammed and stopping it from disengaging. try and tap the starter to free it off

Thanks Peter and Wodjno,i will try that in the morning,i must admit the last time i wacked a starter solenoid it was on a mk 1 cortina,but if it cures my problem i am getting my hammer out.Thanks again.
