I visited longlife in plymouth today for a new exhaust for my leggie, a few of you have recommended them so I'd thought I'd give em ago.

I already have a de-cat pipe so I wanted a price for Cat back.

My two front flexi's are also worn, one frayed and one blowing slightly.

So for them to fabricate a complete exhaust from turbo to tail, (Front pipes, cat back and de-cat) £400 inc vat and fitting, I couldn't believe it.

Booked in on the 13th, I'l keep you all posted on how it goes.

They were also very helpfull with tail pipes and have on that fits the legnum back bumper perfectly....../woot2

good point glen i would want to be able to put the catalitic converter back in as well. i would doubt very much the car will pass an MOT without a cat.

I already have a decat pipe, so they're gonna incorporate it in the new exhaust, bolt in, bolt out cat converter

And yes, complete system for 400 quid

seems like a good price as long as it turns out the way you want, noise wise. just remember they must use good quality stainless steel 304 i think from memory and if you are going to track the car then there are noise limits at most of them about 100-102db. i know japfest is 100db at 45 degree and 0.5m distance.

that is a good price for a complete system. see how the first on turns out then they might be getting some visitor from further afield me thinks.

£400 not including the decat pipe as he already had that.

What diameter are the pipes, are they the same size from turbo to tail?

2.5' all the way, Im off to get it fitted on the 13th so I shall let you all know then, with piccies if you wish.....

some of you mention 'down pipes'.... I would call these front pipes, the first part of the exhaust straight out the turbo.

Hence Turbo to tail........

ask if their life time guarantee includes the front pipes(down pipes)

If you want to check out the quality of what they do you could speak to the former owner.

He's called Paul, and now works out of Alan Jefferies in Plympton. He could also sort you out, but no idea on price.

Might just be worth a second opinion for the sake of a phone call or pop out to see him.

The lifetime guarantee is pretty good, essentially when you sell the vehicle take it back to longlife for an inspection and they sign the guarantee over to the new owner.

Apparently the guarantee will cover the whole exhaust including the welds (a cop out powerflow use)

I went to AP motors in plymouth today aswell, Alan jefferies actually recomended them as they have a 500+bhp saloon VR4. They said longlife were pretty good. (but also suggested the blue flame kit on Camskill @ £366)

I also know a BMW owner (M5 lump in a classic 3 series) here in cornwall who was more than impressed with the build and price of the exhaust longlife made him.

Only time will tell...../pan

just a thought here,

has it not been said that the way to go is 2.5" for the down pipe and 3" on the cat back section.
I am not saying this is fact but there has been a lot of chat about it.

However Longlife exhausts are the experts and if they recomend 2.5" all the way through then i suppose that is the way to go. did they give you any reason behind the recomendation.

as i say it just a thought, but diffinately worth asking the question before you get fitted. it cost nothing to ask the question.

my blue flame is 2.5'' did have a 3'' Fujitsubo before and to be quite honest the blue flame now with a decat feel much more responsive

2.5" is apparently good for over 500bhp,so no need to go bigger on a road car

is that info from your linglife exhausts?

if it was i would have thought they should know what they are talking about.

maybe Gawf (garath) or others that have gone for big power could comment on this.
