The National discs with Ferodo DS2500 pads is a popular upgrade for the front of the VR4's, so did some hunting around and National actually do a "standard" and "performance" range for Galant range from 2.0L upwards - including rear discs for the VR4 :-b

For more info take a look here: CLICK ME ! (http://www.apogeetechnology.com/database/brakesmodellist.php?manf=MITSUBISHI&model=Galant++%2897-%3E%29&submit=%26nbsp%3B%3CIMG+class%3Dhand+src%3D%22medi a%2Farrow.gif%22+align%3Dmiddle%3E)

And did anyone know they are actually based in Nottingham ! Maybe someone could pop around there and see if we can buy direct as a club at a discount ?

Good find :thumb1:

I noticed the date for the Galant VR4 is 10/99 ->

Does that meen they wont fit earlier cars(i.e.mine :( )?

I remmember reading that the caliper hole centres where different on later cars but I did'nt realise the Disks where too.

I would'nt mind a disk upgrade, and it would look fantastic if both back and front where groved/drilled :-D

cheers

I think thats because of the date they were imported officially by Ralliart UK - I have them on my VR4 mate and its a late '96 ;)

I will pop in next week.

Need some new discs for mine as the rotordiscs gave up on the way to Oxford! They have a HUGE crack in them and vibrate badly under braking. I am going to get rotordiscs again cos they look cool! But I am more than happy to get a quote for National Racing ones! :)

i personally have these discs on my car have done now for 3-4 weeks now and have no gripes with them in fact all i can do is recomend them highly.
i also purchased them for £110 inc vat and run them with green EBC pads(a bit more expensive but worth it) i got them from AUTOGEAR (01563 528808)in kilmarnock they also do the rear discs for £96 inc vat (soon to be had).
so then spirit have i managed to source a decent bargain out for the club?
mabey someone could give them a bell(ask for alistair)and sort a club discount out to save the lads some more MOOLAH.
THEY LOOK GOOD IN THE BOX BUT LOOK EVEN BETTER ON THE CAR........... :D

Craig, would need to check the price of the VR4 disc with them as yours seems to be listed as 256mm diameter wheras the VR4 is 294mm, therefore may well impact the price - can you call them ?

Spoke to National at lunchtime today, they dont have any standard discs in stock so cant make any performance ones at the moment. They dont expect any until October!!

This suggests they use the same supplier as Rotordiscs as they have just let me down big time........at this moment in time I have no discs for Sunday :sad3:

They are rusty on the braking surface and I dont want to blow £90 worth of pad on them! I would much prefer to blow £90 worth of pads and £200 worth of discs :D

Doh!

Dave if the rust is not too crusty and the braking faces are not pitted what about getting them in a lathe and just emery'in them off, has worked for me in the past....as a stop gap.. excuse the unintended pun please.... :rolleyes5

No they are proper shot, I only have 2/3 of the disc that will actually work and this will kill my pads in short time :(

They've got plently left on 'em !! :-b :D

Great offer from Derek, but if you are desperate for new ones Dave then give Woodford Garage a call as they had the National's IN STOCK when I ordered mine ;)

or the 'Dangerous Brothers' solution...just jack one side up, put in first gear, then hold an old screwdriver against the discs :-D :-D

works fine on the banger car....hmmm not so sure with 4WD & AYC though,....may take off into the bondu :p

Just a quick :topic: question.

Looking at Craigs picture, the groove on the disc is running the opposite way to my grooved disc's. Does it not matter what side the disc's are placed?

Being the non-technically minded sort, I took my discs to my local ralliart (wareudown - as it is known on MLR) and got them to fit em.

I would assume that they know what disc goes on what side. Or not??

Getting worried now!!!
