elnevio
08-05-2010, 08:04 PM
Looks like that Karl. /yes

Although I wonder how the wheel fits on with those bolts in the way.

You probably need to give them a good soaking in WD-40, and leave for a bit, then a blowtorch to apply a lot of heat - and then try to remove the bolts. Preferably with an impact socket (i.e. 6-sided).

Otherwise yes, a trip to the garage might be quicker.

aboo
08-05-2010, 08:06 PM
Could be. Looks like they'v been on for a while.

Have you tried WD40?

impact socket and a bfo breaker bar

But I'd take it to a garage and let them suffer if you snap a stud you will be in a world of pain

crazyken76
08-05-2010, 08:27 PM
cover your discs and put either engine oil on or spray with wd40 then heat them up and use ring spanner and hit it with a hammer that should work mt

VR4Kaos
08-05-2010, 09:08 PM
think these Rays trispoke don't wanna leave me/car

Turbo_Steve
08-05-2010, 09:32 PM
WD40 reapplied every few hours for 6hrs, then a 6 sided socket and impact wrench.

If that doesn't work, get the Oxy on it.
Shame you're so far north, or I'd tell you to pop down.

crazyken76
08-05-2010, 09:34 PM
shout at them and hit them with a big hammer that works for me lol :)

psbarham
08-05-2010, 09:35 PM
hammer and cold chisel to loosen them off, once they've moved slightly then wd40

VR4Kaos
08-05-2010, 09:51 PM

08-05-2010, 10:57 PM

Are the studs on the spacers still 5x114.3? If so you could probably leave the rear ones on and just remove the fronts.

Those are 5x114.3 so the evo 8 wheels should fit fine on the spacers.

Try the evo wheels again :)

Ahh I think the evo wheels will be touching the studs coming out of the original hubs, whereas the rays wheels will have open spaces between the mounting points for the nuts.

No-one else spotted the 'of +48' meaning 48mm offset in the rays wheels ?... hence the spacers, so the EVO wheels will not fit straight on..

I saw it /yes

bradc

It doesn't really matter what offset the rays were, the only important thing is fitting the EVO wheels on :) I'm guessing the spacers are about 10mm thick, so the EVO wheels would end up being a 28mm offset which is too much on the front but probably just ok on the rear.

what everyone seems to be forget or not noticed and im not been a smartass cos its one thing i ain't the Rays are multistud so may be 5x114..... but the spacer isent 5x114..... but the Rays go on due to them been multi stud

just read this thread and i have a 22mm impact socket and breaker bar, that you could try, plus the long metal pipe and scaffold pole that will be required. but as said earlier you might just snap the stud.

let me know.

personally i would take it to a garage as they will be very used to taking stubbern nuts off with either heat, impact air tools, or cheisel then off, and it the worse happens they will probably have wheel studs to replace the broken ones.
by the way camskill sell replacement wheel studs.

no worries mate glad you are going to get someone to sort it for you.
just make sure you get the garage guy round the corner a pack of beers, on top of what he is going to charge you for time, etc, as a guy with a garage that live round the corner and is on speaking turms with you is a very good thing to have. there is nothing wrong with showing appreciation. you never know when you might need a favour in the future.
