Could someone tell me where abouts on the block the engine number is located? My mechanic can't find it?!?

(97 Legnum VR4 type-S)

Do you need the actual Engine Number or simply the engine type ?

Find a new mechanic, if he cant find that then how is he going to go with AYC fluid changes and stuff that matters ? The parts are not that common in Aussie, So you dont want to break a AYC diff do you ?
BTW how did you go about getting a VR4 into Aussie, just interested as I will probably move back in 4-5 years and definately want my wheels to come back with me.

I know the engine type, 6A13, but as a part of the rego inspection, he needs to physically sight the engine number on the block.

I don't think I can blame my mechanic for not being familiar with the engine. There are only a handful of them in Oz!
But yes, AYC etc will need a good mechanic.
This mechanic, however, will not be my ongoing mechanic. He's just the guy who's doing the inspection for registration.
As far as getting it into Oz, it should be straightforward. Just the usual checks. No major mods so far. (Minor mods for me: slight lift (min ground clearance is 100mm), seatbelt engineering check required (The Jap standard isn't on the list of RTA-approved standards.) ) Let me know if/when you bring it in. You will be one of a very small club!

Sorry I appear to have been missunderstood, I was not saying he is a bad mechanics, My old boss is one of the best mechanics I know, saying that I WOULD NOT take my VR4 to him, he doesnt know the inticacies of the likes of the AYC, I would not trust my car to any one other than a Late model mitsi specialist, or dealer.

Hope this clears up my last post

No really, he's pretty good, but I don't think he's up on late models.
