Dave, I take it the problem is time to fit another ?? You can have my old one as it's in perfect condition if that would help at all ?

No damage fortunately, came as quite a shock, thought I had a puncture for a moment but then realised :(

Oh bugger! Just had my car in for the belts (£40 fitted!) and my garage has told me that the main crank pulley has broken which caused the belt to break :(

So a call to Mitsubishi and

£117.73 + vat

later

:sad3: :wall: :Cry1:

i had to replace the crank pulley last year also.
all new belt's tensioner and pulley=£360.. dealer part's but not dealer mechanic's :| .mitsy wanted over £450 to supply + fit :sad3:

the crank pulley is a weak spot.a lot of moaning about them on mitsy's complaint's list!

So I guess that would explain the rather sinister thumping sound your motor was making then? :undecided

Mrs BDA here - dropped the keys into the garage at 4:40pm, back on the drive by 5:30pm. Don't know what all the fuss was about  But if anyone wants a laugh, BDA has had to resort to an orange Punto for the last 2 days

Strangely enough Stevie_C the previous owner of my car threw the same belt not long before I bought the car, now as part of my full service I had ALL belts replaced, now the pwr steering belt and alternator belt were out of stock at that time, so I have just had them fitted about 3 weeks ago....guess what.. my pwr steering belt is shredded agin and I am back in for another tomorrow...I wonder..... :wall: :Cry1: :scared1:

Run the engine and look under the bonnet. You may be able to see which pulley is out of line. I learned that from quadal when he bought mine! :$

Yes thanks Nick, my first stop was going to be a straight edge across pulley faces anyway.
