And a very well written thread if I say so myself! :D

Try a few local exhaust fabrication places - you should be able to get some made up for around the £240-250 mark. Just make sure that the join is made to flow nicely, rather than the rear down pipe just teeing in at a right angle.

On the RPW side its been widely acknowledged that one batch werent up to standard whilts the first batch was problem free.

Im in talks with a local company called Top Gear who have a very good reputation around here.

They have told me that they will custom make downpipes for the VR4 for £300 (fitted) inc both the flexi pipes out of T304 stainless steel.

The downpipes also have a lifetime warranty thats transferrable.

How is this possible, it touches the chassis in gives a very nasty vibration when accelerating, not nice at all, and one thing, it's too low under the turbos.

Did you get them from RPW direct?

Well, I have RPW downpipes too. Seems that every pipe is custom made not machined.
Mine was perfect in sense of diameter, matching 3in de-cat. Also hadn't got any issues with alignment. But...
... that downpipe sits ridiculously low!
Already I hit several times "sleeping policeman" on residential area streets. And bigger flexi pipe is knacked big time. Wonder if there is a hole or leak recently, but gonna investigate soon. Saying that, steel pipe is made of is PITA to weld, so, fitting new flexi seems to be big job for skilled welder.
Overall, wouldn't recommend RPW pipes for lowered VR4.

i've heard bad things aswell about RPW , seems a bit of hit and miss with them. bummer as you can't exactly send them back as not really local more like otherside of the planet.

Actually I got it secondhand, it was sitting in a 97 legnum and fitted perfectly, just thinking some options:

Is the rest of the exhaust sitting too high?
It the engine aligned properly?
The legnum has two sets of part numbers for original exhaust, is it somehow different?

And yes my car is lowered, and the damn thing hits everywhere now, but seems to need less gas pedal when driving 80-100kph and when I hit the accelerator pedal it gets boost more rapidly.

Ok, I gave the spot some beating and not it doesn't hit anymore. Works perfectly.

Turbos make some noise now, you can hear as they spool. (The rest of the exhaust is very quiet and i have quiet tires)

Builds up boost very fast.

Boostmeter has a lower reading when driving with only little accelarator pressed (how does one say that)

Transmission shifts better than it used to! (This is weird)
