Hi guys - I've got a mystery rattle that seems to rise and fall with revs - only hear it under acceleration. At first I thought the motor itself was rattling, but there's no reason why it should be under stress, and the motor doesn't seem to be suffering in any other way.

Without access to a hoist, is there a heat shield on either of the turbos? I'm wondering if it may have cracked where it's bolted on...

ive got the exact same problem..
ive just lived with it! :rolleyes5

usually always there when car is warm, and at fairly high revage.. as you said, under acceleration.. but you can also replicate it standing still and giving some welly on the pedal.. (sometimes)

wonder what it is..

I used to have a similar problem on my old car. Are you sure it is coming from the engine? The problem I had was busted baffles in the exhaust backbox.

Have you also checked exhaust clamps for tightness?

I had a car that when reving in 1st and 2nd had a rattle noise. It was this that was loose.

Thanks guys - will get the mechanic to have a look on Friday, with your suggestions.

I'm pretty sure it's exhaust related - perhaps a turbo manifold or something, but either way it's right up near the motor.
