Colin, I really hope you're not going to be buying them with 205/40/17!!!!!!!

To both of you, the wheel needs to be 8" wide and you should be going for 225/45/17 or 225/40/18 tyres. The offset should be between 35mm and 40mm.

The wheels don't need to be 8" wide.

I'd go for 8" wide myself though.

A thinner width wheel may require a narrower tyre to be fitted.

I have 7.5" wide wheels on 225/45/17, offset 38 and find the slight loss of handling acceptable compared to the 8" rims. I get less tramlining and road noise as a bonus.

A wider tyre will affect noise and tramlining, a wider wheel with the same diEd tyre won't

Like the first ones. Not sure about the red lip on the second ones, but otherwise like the style.

And then what brad has already said. /yes
