Hi Guys,

I was out at Q's in the weekend and trial fitted a Hi Vis dash into my ST-R to see if it would work. For the most part it all worked fine except for the tacho which was really twitchy and not 100% accurate. Anyone else done this or know how to possibly get the tacho to read correctly? Oh and it was a VR4 speedo to.
Also, how would I go about getting the km's to read the same as my current gauge?

Cheers,
Alan.

Getting the odometer to read the same will be very tricky. As far as I know, its microcontroller based and you will need to hack some sort of toy to do it.

Unsure about the jumpy tacho. I do know however there is one pin that you are supposed to join. If you do a search for hivis or hi vis speedo you should be able to find someone that did it recently.

I tried a VR4 Hi Vis dash in one of my ST-R's a couple of weeks back and found the same issue with the Tacho. I think there is something different between the distributor 6A13 and CAS 6A13 DOHC signalling.

I purchased a Hi Vis dash from a V6 Sport off one of the UK members and fitted this in, the Tacho works fine in the ST-R, as does the 160MPH speedo.

The UK cars also have a single distie. May be the wiring difference I'm talking about?

Pierre, why don't you try this: http://www.clubvr4.com/forum/showthread.php?t=30595

Ok, so I've searched all through here and on OZVR4 and found zip in relation to this issue. The main one is the tacho. Not too concerned about the odo. Frustrating because everything else works sweet, just looks like I now drive an F1 car as the needle is wanting to go round to about 10-12k! (ok a slow F1 car) At low revs and idle it reads fairly accurately, but when you give it some go the poor things not quite sure what to do.

The MIVEC uses a cam angle sensor like the vr4 doesn't it? I.e. it doesn't have a distributor like the str.
