Having read up on thevarious topics there seems to be no clear approach on the best induction / filter setup?
Has anyone tried fitting a cone filter inside the aire box? should give greater flow and keep the cold.
Keen to give it a try but wanted to see if anyone got there first

The definitive answer is don't use a cone or mushroom filter unless it has been shielded from under bonnet heat, and a pipe extending it away from the MAF to smooth out airflow.
Other than that, a high flow panel filter replacement..

As wodj says, unless you're planning to "break new ground" in VR4 tuning, the simplest solution is a foam panel filter.
I'm not sure the factory paper filter is that restrictive until it starts to get dirty.
There are potential gains using a modified inlet tract, but at the moment it generally seems to introduce as many problems as it solves.

Well I ordered the filter today, Ill give the internal airbox a trial first, if not looks like a full size induction setup

The problem arises from the shape of the air going into the MAF. Just stick with the panel filter :)
